Come on guys, really?

You are booked at a venue with a $100 guarantee, bring 2 people and expect to get paid and invited back.

In summer of '08, I booked and hosted a day long metal and hardcore festival, and asked We Die Alone to play it.  Most bands were paid through presale, but a few bands opted to go with a guarantee package... not too clever on my part, but my goal was just to put on a day festival that featured the best underground bands from in town.  We Die Alone was one of my more preferred bands on the bill because I had seen them before live and they played like a band with much more success than they actually had.  I guess you could say that they were a joy to watch.  Now one of the bandmemebers' parents managed the band and said that they would only play for a guarantee of $100.  Now that's more than most venues will guarantee for an entire show, but I figured that if they'd bring 10 people, I'd be covered for that.  They played, very well, I might add and when it came time to settle up, I realized that they had only brought 2 people: a bandmember's grandparents and that was it.  At $10 per ticket, they thought they were getting $100 for $20 worth of work, really?

You book a band with a $100 guarantee, and even though they brought 2 people, you pay them and invite them back.

Yeah, I was an idiot kid... but what's more, I'm a man of my word.  I said I'd pay them $100 and that I did.  I'm not sure why I invited them to play a later date, but never again.  It's funny, when I invited them to the show, they had to turn me down.  Come on Arch, really?

  1. Your sources are Fools!!
1- Wysteria was asked to play the show a week before the date.
2-the promo?they meet the film dude the same day of the show, and the promo was FREE. They were there to shoot the opening band.
3-cabs are not rented, they got them through mesa and A plea for purging..haaaaa hater!!
seriously, do your research before you post shit.

    Ron/I was there selling merch

    • I don’t have sources, I was at the show, I saw what I saw and I wrote about it. I had been invited to that show more than a week before and Wysteria was on the bill from the start. I don’t know when they got film crew or whatever, but Ive got no beef with filming promos, I’d even recommend it. Free is even better! The crew did a great job. As for the cabs, if they got them From Mesa and Plea, that’s fine, still no excuse to have so many, and why’d they leave the tags on them?

I respect that you stick up for your friends’ band, Ron, but it’s really not that serious; just something to write about.
