City of Ships at Will’s Pub

City of Ships

Every Monday, Will's Pub does its special "Low Dough Mondays," with a $3 cover, $1 Pabst and $2 Domestic beers.  I don't drink, so I don't know, but judging by the name, I'm guessing that's quite a deal.  Last Monday, June 14, Low Dough featured 3 bands, Copper Bones, Nights on Fire and City of Ships, who played the tightest set I have ever seen.  The way the group layed down such a heavy groove was really exciting and engaging.

Same Guy, Different Gun @ Island Oasis

Not everything that comes out of the Central Florida scene is genius: a thought I formed last night to contest the notion I had formed over my career as an observer of music.  Halfway through Same Guy Different Gun, I found myself blaming them for all of the shitty music I had ever heard, and when the vocalist announced their forthcoming breakup, i found myself  rejoicing in the demise of that band. “Thank the lord that this is their last show, and I pray that it stays that way.

There is no place in this world for generic deathcore anymore.
